In the past 10 years, we’ve seen the concept of the influencer emerge and take hold. There’s an influencer for every niche - fashion influencers, beauty influencers, mom influencers, teacher influencers, interior design influencers, you name it. They tell us about the newest contouring tricks, the latest trends, how to gentle parent, and even the best reusable water bottle to use. In its early days, influencers felt like a cool best friend or an aspirational older sister - telling you insider tips that you wouldn’t know otherwise. These days, many feel more like walking billboards than someone you can relate to and trust. Combine that with a more savvy and conscious audience and worries of an upcoming recession… Basically, a lot of people are getting sick of them. Sick of people, well, like me.
